What is Afri KYC
Afri KYC is a software that allows individuals to provide proof of personhood and authenticate themselves in full anonymity. Afri KYC extends beyond merely providing proof of personhood, authenticating any communications backed by zero-knowledge proof. This allows users to verify their identity and engage in secure communications while ensuring complete anonymity.
How is it possible to be authenticated and remain anonymous simultaneously with Afri KYC?
Afri KYC employs a decentralized network of Notary Nodes, which are selected by the members themselves. These nodes facilitate Zero Knowledge Authenticated Communication, a method that supports responsible privacy management. The notary nodes maintain authenticated data, but this data is only shared upon a member's request and strictly with a specified counterparty. For instance, a user might choose to share only their first name, gender, and age bracket with a dating site, while for a casino, they might reveal only the fact that they are of legal age. This selective sharing mechanism ensures authentication of relevant details while maintaining user anonymity in other respects.
What is Zero Knowledge Authentication?
Zero Knowledge Authentication is a method that allows you to authenticate your identity without revealing any sensitive information. It involves a process called zero-knowledge proof, which is a function enabling a user to prove their identity to a verifier without having to share any confidential details. The core concept here is that both the user and the verifier exchange a secret, yet the secret itself remains undisclosed. The verifier then checks this proof to confirm the user's identity, ensuring that sensitive data is not transmitted over insecure channels or stored on vulnerable servers.
How does WKYC deliver Zero Knowledge Authentication?
Afri KYC implements Zero Knowledge Authentication through a network of Notary Nodes. These nodes function as the guardians of identity, paralleling the role of a public notary. Just as a notary uses your fingerprint and ID copy to authenticate a document's signature, maintaining records for legal verification, Notary Nodes in WKYC securely hold authenticated identity data. This approach ensures both secure verification and the protection of sensitive information.
Members have the option to select one or more Notary Nodes located in their preferred jurisdictions. This choice is significant because it allows local law enforcement to intervene if necessary, adhering to the legal frameworks of the selected jurisdictions. Thus, WKYC blends secure, private identity verification with the flexibility for legal compliance and intervention, tailored to the member's jurisdictional preferences.
What is a VLink?
A VLink is the equivalent of a digitally notarized communication. Usually, when someone notarizes a contract they'll put a special, official stamp next to your signature and her own, certifying that you are in fact you.
The member creating the VLink chooses to display all, part or no information about his identity along with the message, document or other information to be transmitted.
The identity of the member can only be uncovered in case of foul play by law enforcement in the jurisdiction of the member’s Notary Node.
VLink is a secure and convenient way to communicate with others without exposing your personal information. VLink lets you choose what information you want to share and what you want to keep private. This is a key feature of Afri KYC, providing privacy with responsible communication.
What secure communications are supported?
Afri KYC supports a diverse range of secure communication use cases, beginning with the authentication of traditional notarized documents, such as proof of life declarations for insurance purposes. Unique to Afri KYC is the incorporation of Zero-Knowledge (ZK) authenticated communications, which play a crucial role in preventing identity fraud. This includes verification of age, nationality, and providing a verified name and photo on a digital business card. Additionally, Afri KYC offers authenticated short URLs and QR codes, enhancing the security and reliability of digital interactions.
Why do we need digitally notarized VLink?
Only a few documents are generally notarized as they represent a significant financial commitment such as the purchase of a home or a loan.
With the automation provided by VLink we are building purchase verification to lower the risk of chargeback on a credit card transaction and to authenticate the recipient of a crypto wallet in the event of litigation. There are a number of use cases such as age verification or name verification on a verified digital business card.
